2014-04-17

The newspaper: LEVANTE, El Mercantil Valenciano reports about our project

Indetec plans to obtain electricity from aluminum.

The company Indetec, part of the Vento group and located at the industrial area Fuente del Jarro, in Paterna for almost four decades, makes progress to the construction of the pilot plant for the “H2AlRecycling” project, whose aim is the extraction of hydrogen from aluminum residues to produce electricity on a fuel cell.

This project, as explained by company sources, requires of a pilot plant to study and optimize the process variables. The construction of the plant is part of the European project life, specialized on innovation in the environmental sector.

In the words of the “H2AlRecycling” managers:  “The analysis of the laboratory tests, performed by the Instituto Tecnológico de la Energía (ITE), has allowed Indetec to design a pilot plant prototype where the corresponding tests on a bigger scale will be performed”. The project will be validated in Pedralba on its pilot phase and coordinated by JAP Energéticas y Medioambientales.

From the company, the aim of the project was explained using the movie “Back to the Future” as an example, where one of its characters puts a can on a condenser to make the vehicle-time machine work. “We want to reuse an easy obtaining residue like aluminum, mostly recyclable and no greenhouse gases effect producer” explained to this newspaper an Indetec representative. “it’s a new way of obtaining electricity by a clean and autonomous method” added.

Actually, the company is about to finish the pilot plant (the idea is to have it finished by May or June) to start the experiments looking for the best parameters and conditions to obtain the expected result. The main objective of the company is to start the activities in mid-September, according to Indetec.
